We Texans are proud of our great state, and if there is one other thing we Texans are proud of as well; its definitely our great food.  With the wide variety of cultures that have come our way there has been a wide variety of amazing food from all corners of the earth that have traveled to the lone star state. It’s not a surprise that it’s diverse culture has spilled in to one of fastest growing sectors of the culinary industry; the food truck industry. Below are some of the best food trucks in Texas that reflect it’s wide diversity of food.

Austin

  • Torchy’s Taco’s – While it’s no surprise that Texas is know for it’s amazing Mexican food; this taco is “Damn Good”. Torchy’s operates over 30 different stores along with a trailer park located in Austin. Torchy’s Taco is a must try for any taco lover.

  • Micklethwait Craft Meats – Featured on shows like the Jimmy Kimmel Show and even the travel channel. Micklethwait Craft Meats is Texas Barbecue done right and that is saying a lot since we take our barbecue seriously down here ya’ll.

  • Jack’s Chowhound – As one of the first food trucks to start rolling around Dallas, they have left a solid foot print in the Dallas food truck scene. Jack’s serves gourmet American style food. One of their signature dishes is the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich. If you have the privilege of living in Dallas, these guys are a must try!   • Nammi Truck – Using family recipes; Nammi has been become a crowd favorite for Vietnamese Cuisine in Dallas. Their menu features Vietnamese fusion favorites such as the Banh mi and vietnamese tacos. They are not in it to redefine Vietnamese Cuisine. They are simply in it to spread the greatest of Vietnamese Cuisine.

  • Gandolfo’s – Since 1989 Gandolfo’s has focused on bringing the New York Deli experience to the rest of the country. Starting in Salt Lake City, Utah; they have managed to make their way to Texas. There they ran in to Dain and Jon who loved Gandolfo’s so much that they decided to open up shop in Dallas. With such a powerful name behind them Dain and Jon have managed to become one of most sought after food trucks in the city.   • Oh My Gogi! – In Houston you almost can’t think food truck and not think of Oh My Gogi. These guys have been around the food truck scene for quite a while and have have paved the way for many others. From Kimchi & Chicken Quesadillas to Korean Beef Tacos. They have figured out the perfect blend of Korean and Mexican cuisine

  • Flip N Patties – Vietnamese and Korean cuisine get all the action in the food truck scene. Flip N Patties took a different approach and introduced some amazing Filipino food fused with American. The Halo Halo and Mamarita’s Flan is to die for. Don’t forget to try their amazing burgers. They are one of the best burgers I have ever had; hands down!

  • H-Town StrEATS –  H-Town StrEATS owners Matt Opaleski and Jason Hill are quite the artists. They were among the first food trucks to hit the strEATS of Houston and have set the bar high. They have a forever changing menu that features anything from hot dogs covered in local craft beer-infused mustard to chicken tender tacos and even Hawaiian burgers. The genius of their menu is that it never stays the same so every visit is a surprise.

San Antonio

  • Gourmet On The Fly – Tex-Mex is the name of the game here at Gourmet On The Fly and there couldn’t be a better city for it. It’s all about mouth watering Texas bbq along with its taste-bud busting Mexican food.

  • Rickshaw Stop – This year they have been listed as the #5 food truck in the entire nation by the Daily Meal. With a reputation like this you know they are not in the business of disappointing any body. In fact they have even been nicknamed “The Guarantee” by their loyal fans. Their menu consist of Pakistani food; primarily Kebabs and Samosas. They put so much attention to detail that they ensure their beef and chicken is marinated exactly 48 hours in advance in order to give it their distinct taste. Rickshaw Stop is a must for any dedicated foodie.
  • Chocollazo –  With all of this food on the street, it is only necessary that someone should bring dessert. As featured on Eat St., Chocollazo is a one a kind food truck in San Antonio. They are a Gourmet chocolate shop on wheels. Their wide variety of confections vary from hand-made chocolate truffles to bacon infused chocolate.

  1. There are so many other food truck besides OhMiGogi and FlippinPatties in Houston. Take the Sauerkraut truck… Damn fine German Food, Wokker, Tx Ranger – amazing Asian and BBQ. Mahalo Munchies- great Hawaiian fusion. It seems that all the blogs ever talk about are the same 5 trucks… Id like to hear about the up and coming trucks, too.
